ST 0.10.7, changes to submarines, ASW upgrades and ASW armament of ships

Changes will be applied to dive capacity, upgrades, and other parameters of submarines, as well as ASW upgrades, Depth Charge Airstrike changes, and adjustments to bombs and rockets.

The changes will improve the interaction between submarines and surface ships for both parties. In particular, submarines will benefit from periscope depth becoming more effective for conducting attacks, as well as the change to make submarines less detectable when emitting sonar pings. For surface ships, in turn, it will become easier to use the Depth Charge Airstrike on detected submarines.

Changes to Submarine Parameters:

Adjusted maximum sonar ping and torpedo range:

  • Salmon: from 12.7 to 12.5 km;
  • Balao: from 14.2 to 14 km;
  • U-69: from 8.4 to 9 km;
  • U-190: from 9.8 to 10 km;
  • U-2501: from 10.9 to 11 km.

Adjusted detectability range by air, by other submarines, and when emitting a sonar ping in smoke:

  • Cachalot:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.6 to 2.4 km;
    • When emitting a sonar ping in smoke: from 2.3 to 2.4 km;
  • Salmon:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.6 to 2.2 km;
  • Balao:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.7 to 2.2 km;
    • When emitting a sonar ping in smoke: from 2.1 to 2.2 km
  • U-69:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.2 to 2.1 km;
    • When emitting a sonar ping in smoke: from 2 to 2.1 km;
  • U-190:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.1 to 2 km;
  • U-2501:
    • By air and submarines: from 2.2 to 2.1 km;
    • When emitting a sonar ping in smoke: from 2 to 2.1 km.

Reduced dive capacity:

  • Salmon, U-69: from 420 to 400 units;
  • Balao: from 490 to 450 units;
  • U-190: from 500 to 470 units;
  • U-2501: from 510 to 470 units.

Other changes:

  • The speed of torpedoes changing depth is now approximately 2.5x higher on average;
  • For all submarines, detectability range after emitting a sonar ping now increases to a flat 4 km, rather than the detectability value of the submarine on the surface
  • The width of the sonar ping and its impact radius has been increased 1.5x for all submarines.
  • Now the speed of any sonar ping emitted on the surface will be the same as it would be underwater. For US submarines it will be a static 600 m/s, and for German submarines 500 m/s.

Changes to Submarine Upgrades

For submarines specifically, unique variants of the Steering Gears upgrades have been added. These will have names and icons different from the similar upgrades of surface ships.

Changes to ASW Upgrades

"ASW Modification 1" (Slot 3):

  • The upgrade is moved to the 4th slot.

"Anti-Submarine Aircraft Modification 1" (Slot 3):

  • The upgrade is moved to the 4th slot;
  • Added the following bonuses:
    • +25% to the HP of Depth Charge Airstrike aircraft;
    • +15% to the damage of depth charges
  • Bonus reload time of the Depth Charge Airstrike reduced from 40% to 20%

"Anti-Submarine Aircraft Modification 2" (Slot 4):

  • The upgrade was removed.

Changes to the Depth Charge Airstrike

  • Time before depth charges explode reduced from 10 to 7 s;
  • Speed of planes increased by 25%;
  • Reduced delay between planes being called and actually appearing on the battlefield.

Other Changes

  • Added the fragmentation area of damage to submarines for AP rockets and bombs.
  • Some small changes made to the sizes of the fragmentation area of damage to submarines for HE rockets and bombs.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing. The final information will be published on our game's website.
