Public Test 0.10.9, changes to ASW armament and submarines

Depth Charge Airstrike was added for all tier V-X cruisers and battleships that had no ASW armament. Balance changes to submarines were made as well.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing. The final information will be published on our game's website.

Based on the results of submarine testing in Ranked and Co-op battles, as well as player feedback, we added the means of countering submarines for almost all tier V-X cruisers and battleships, as well as made changes to submarines.

Depth Charge Airstrike

All Tier V-X cruisers and battleships without ASW armament, except for hybrids and Dutch cruisers, had the Depth Charge Airstrike armament added for them. We also changed the maximum action range of the Depth Charge Airstrike for battleships that already had this armament

All tier VI-X battleships and cruisers that received the Depth Charge Airstrike armament will have the Airstrike Modification 1 upgrade (slot 4) added

Based on the analysis of their combat efficiency and player feedback, the following changes were made to submarines:

  • The increase of the Dive Capacity depletion rate to 4 units per second affected the comfort of playing and the overall effectiveness of submarines too much. In order to make spotting slightly less impactful on a submarine's gameplay, we reduced the Dive Capacity depletion rate when spotted.
  • Submarines can now launch torpedoes one by one — this will make the gameplay more dynamic and will allow you to control the precise number of launched torpedoes. In order to make the submarine still use sonar ping for better accuracy of torpedoes, we increased the width of torpedo launch cone
  • German submarines were behind US subs in terms of damage dealt. In order to align the ships by this parameter, we increased the maximum damage and flooding chance of german submarines' torpedoes.
  • German submarines have torpedo tubes located mainly on the fore-end, which is more suitable for dealing damage from a long distance. In order to shift the gameplay of these submarines to a more long-range type of combat, we naturally increased their torpedoes' range.
  • US submarines, on the contrary, can be quite effective in close and mid-range combat, as they have torpedo tubes located both in the fore- and aft-ends. In order to push these submarines a bit more into this combat style, we reduced the range of their torpedoes.

Changes to the parameters of all submarines:

  • Dive Capacity depletion rate when spotted reduced from 4 to 3 units per second;
  • Torpedoes are now launched one by one. If a submarine had several torpedo tubes in the fore- or aft-end, they all will now be displayed as a single torpedo tube respectively. The torpedo reload principle wasn't changed.
  • The width of torpedo launch cone increased 2.5 times.
  • Changed the parameters of torpedoes and sonar ping:
    •  VI U-69:
      • Maximum torpedo damage increased from 7,067 to 7,533;
      • Chance of causing flooding by a torpedo increased from 37 to 41%;
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range increased from 9 to 11.5 km.
    • VIII U-190:
      • Maximum torpedo damage increased from 7,467 to 8,633;
      • Chance of causing flooding by a torpedo increased from 40 to 47%;
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range increased from 10 to 12.5 km.
    • X U-2501:
      • Torpedo tubes reload time reduced from 85 to 77 s;
      • Maximum torpedo damage increased from 7,700 to ,8633;
      • Chance of causing flooding by a torpedo increased from 41 tо 47%;
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range increased from 11 to 14 km.
    • VI Cachalot:
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range reduced from 11.5 to 10 km.
    • VIII Salmon:
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range reduced from 12.5 to 11 km.
    • X Balao:
      • Torpedo and sonar ping range reduced from 14 to 12 km.
